IHPAT Silica Sample Concentration Range Change

PAT Programs is pleased to announce a change to the IHPAT Silica sample concentration range. The change will be effective during the IHPAT Round 224.

Participants should expect samples between 25 µg and 225 µg. This change will bring us in line with the action level of 25 µg/m3 and will provide your organization an opportunity to demonstrate your analytical capability at ½ the PEL.

If you have any questions or concerns, please address them to David Clawson at dclawson@aiha.org.

The IHPAT scheme plan is being modified now and will be made available to interested participants upon request.

IHPAT Organic Solvents and IHPAT Diffusive Samplers Sample Generation Method Change

PAT Programs is pleased to announce a change to the IHPAT Organic Solvents and IHPAT Diffusive Samplers sample generation method. These samples will now be produced using a vapor deposition method. Following a successful pilot of the newly developed samples, the pilot data was provided to the PAT Board in March of this year and was approved later in that month. The PAT Programs would like to thank those organizations that participated in the Vapor Deposition Pilots.

These mass-generated samples are closer to what may be submitted to your organization by a client. In addition, the benefits of this change are:

  1. Vapor deposition will eliminate the usage of acetone as a liquid spiking solvent. This change should return your curves to what is expected for the analyte.
  2. The organic solvent samples will contain a single section of sorbent tube. This change will eliminate the concerns of sample breakthrough which occurred with the liquid deposition sample method.
  3. A matrix blank will no longer be required and will no longer be sent. Sample sets will include four spiked samples and five desorption blanks.

To help your organization manage this change, we are providing images of the new organic solvents samples below.
